Where is Tibet? Tibet is a plateau region in Asia. Tibet is a rich and beautiful land with an average altitude over 4,000m (13,120ft) above sea level. Possessing more than fifty peaks above 7,000m (22,960ft), Tibet is home to eleven Himalayan mountains over 8,000m (26,240ft). Countries like China, India, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan , Burma and Kashmir border the Tibet. Lying on the rain shadow area, this region is dry for nine months in a year. Rainfall here is only 18 inches (46 cm). This has created a harsh and rough terrain in this region. Bon religion used to exist in an ancient days in Tibet. Later in the 7th century, Buddhism influences the Tibet. Buddhism has played major role and influence on the art, music, festivals, culture, traditions as well as in living life of people. Tibet can be taken as an isolated and pristine land with high influence of religious belief. Lhasa city is the capital of the autonomous kingdom of Tibet. Lhasa , Shigatse, Gyantse and Tsetang are highly popular areas for the cultural tour in Tibet.
