suklaphanta wildlife reserve

Shuklaphanta wildlife reserve is one of the largest national parks in the country. It is located in the far western Terai on the southwest edge of Nepal, covering parts of Dolpa and Mugu District with an area of  305 sq km. The Shukaphanta wildlife reserve was established in 1976. The jungle safari in the Shukaphanta wildlife reserve is the exploration in the lush pristine subtropical jungle. Two third of the area is covered with the forests whereas one third by the grassland. The grassland here is the largest grassland of Nepal, occupying an area of 54 sq km. This is a home to the 268 species of bird, six species of mammal, threatened animals as the high-speed hare, pygmy hog , Snow leopard,  Bengal tigers, rhinos, crocodiles, wild elephants, swamp deer. The reserve also holds Nepal's largest breeding population of Bengal floricans and hispid hare . The Rani tal inside the reserve is one of the attractions for the animals and migratory birds. One can opt out various ways for a jungle safari on the back of the elephant, in the jeep, as well as the on foot. Other ways to view wildlife in the park is by driving in land rovers near the lake and river and on nature walks with trained trackers. 




Itinerary


 

 

 

 Day 01:

Arrival in Kathmandu. You stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02:

Drive from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and drive from Nepalgunj to Suklaphanta.

Day 03:

Full day activities in Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve. You set out for village tour to a nearby ethnic Tharu village where you will learn more about the life and lifestyle of the Tharus. You enjoy dinner and overnight stay here.

Day 04:

Full activities in Suklafanta Wildlife Reserve. You enjoy bird watching and further proceed for elephant Safari. An excellent opportunity to see Asian Elephant, Great One Horn Rhinoceros, Spotted Deer or Chital, Hog Deer, Barking Deer, Samber, Swamp Deer or Barasingha, Nilgai or Bull, Black Buck, Wild Boar, Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Wild Dog, Golden Jackal, Striped Hyena. You will also encounter many other smaller mammals that have made Bardia their home.Next you start jungle walk. An excellent opportunity to see the wild animals, small mammals, birds and waits in the Tower to have the wild sightseeing, accompanied by our experienced naturalists and wild life tracker. Excellent photographic opportunities are plentiful. You conclude the day by Tharu cultural dance and delicious dinner.

Day 05:

Early morning bird watching tour. Relaxation and the option to explore other nearby villages. Lunch. Departure & connection by bus for Kathmandu. It takes 6 days for a round trip beginning and ending in Kathmandu.
