Hunting Reserves in Nepal

 

Dhorpatan Hunting reserve is one and only licensed hunting areas in the country. The reserve was established in 1987. The reserve covers an area of 1325 sq. kms with an area which uprises from 3000m to 7000m in altitude. The reserve area stretches within a district of Rukum, Myagdi and Baglung. The department of National Park & Wildlife Conservation has categorized Dhorpatan hunting reserve in seven different hunting blocks. In the reserve,  Black Bear, Serow, Ghoral, Himalayan Tahr, leopard wild boar barking deer are widely available. As well blue sheep and Himalayan Thaar as well as pheasant and partridges are permissible for hunting. Wherease an endangered species like Red Pandas and Cheer Pheasants are strictly prohibited for  hunting. The vegetation varies from alpine, sub alpine and high temperate vegetation zones.  50 % reserve area is covered with high pasture lands. High zones of the reserve is found snow capped. Dhorpatan Hunting reserve is allowed to visit within Sep to May. While, March to April is the  best time to explore around the reserve. Trophy Hunting as well as game viewing activities can be done in a reserve.

 

 



Itinerary:


Day 01: Arrival service from Kathmandu Airport & transfer to hotel. If time permits, we visit Kathmandu Durbar in the evening & stay overnight at hotel. 

 

Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to  Baglung via Pokhara..

 
Day 03:  Trek from Baglung to Biukot.

 
Day 04: Trek from Biukot to Galkot


Day 05: 
Trek from Gal Kot to Bhim Gheete


Day 06:
 Trek from Bhim Gheete - Burtibang


Day 07:
 
Trek from Burtibang to Dowal Phedi,


Day 08:Trek from Dowal Phedi to Dhorpatan,


Day 09:
 Wildlife hunting period


Day 10:  
Wildlife hunting period


Day 11:  
Trek from Dhorpatan to Jaljala.


Day 12: 
Trek from Jaljala to  Maraeni,


Day 13:
  Trek from Maraeni toDarbang,


Day 14:
  Trek from Darbang to Beni,


Day 15:  
Drive from Beni  to Pokhara. You can have sightseeing around Pokhara.

 
Day 16: Fly back to Kathmandu or any other destination of your choice.
